Barend Botha claimed his second professional victory in back-to-back weeks at the BioSteel Championship after carding a final-round seven-under-par 63. The South African moves up to No 4 in the Fortinet Cup points list after the victory.
SA TO FEATURE ON DP WORLD TOUR SCHEDULE
The DP World Tour has announced its ‘Opening Swing’ for the 2025 season, featuring five tournaments in the southern hemisphere. These include three in South Africa in December – the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Gary Player Country Club, and the Sunshine Tour co-sanctioned Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club followed by the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Mont Choosy Le Golf.
VAN TONDER RULES IN ESWATINI
Daniel van Tonder clearly has an affinity for Eswatini. The South African professional won the FNB Eswatini Challenge by two strokes at Nkonyeni Lodge and Golf Estate to claim his third victory in the kingdom. He closed with a final-round 68 to win on 14 under par overall and collect his first victory on the Sunshine Tour since the 2021 South African Open Championship.
SA’S STREICHER QUALIFIES FOR US WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Former South African Women’s Stroke Play champion Megan Streicher will be teeing it up with fellow GolfRSA National Squad member and SA’s top-ranked women’s amateur, Caitlyn Macnab, at Southern Hills Country Club after winning her way into the field for the 124th US Women’s Amateur Championship.

SA Olympic duo to play at Nedbank Golf Challenge
Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Erik van Rooyen have confirmed their participation at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player at Sun City. They will join defending champion Max Homa as they contend for “Africa’s Major”, which forms part of the 2025 Race to Dubai in partnership with Nedbank and Sun International.
RYDER CUP STARS CONFIRMED FOR BMW SA CHAMPIONSHIP
Luke Donald will be joined by Nicolai Højgaard, Robert MacIntyre and Sepp Straka in the BMW PGA Championship field. The quartet were the latest to be announced alongside defending champion Ryan Fox and Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose, at the iconic Wentworth Club in September.
CORNWALL HILL MAKE IT COUNT AT ERNIE ELS SA PRIMARY SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP
Cornwall Hill College celebrated a dream debut victory at the 2024 Ernie Els SA Primary Schools Championship in Tshwane in July. Taking a 19-stroke lead into the final round, the team of 2024 Sun City U-13 Challenge winner Aiden Combrinck, Luke Wickens, and Jacques and Gerrie Olivier posted 222 on the final day of the 36-hole event.
WATERKLOOF WINS FOURTH SA HIGH SCHOOLS TITLE
The youthful team from Waterkloof Hoërskool made it four SA High Schools Championship titles in nine starts, edging out the cream of high school golf in South Africa with a hard-fought victory at Worcester Golf Club in July. A total of 25 teams teed it up in the Boland to chase glory in this popular tournament.
SADGA’S ALL ABILITIES GOLF TOUR MAKES AN UNRIVALLED ENTRANCE INTO 2024
The South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA) launched the All Abilities Golf Tour (AAGT) with a mission to increase awareness around disabled golf, grow inclusivity in sports in South Africa and inspire more participation by creating a pathway for development golfers with disabilities.
REST OF THE WORLD LIFTS THE 2024 VISION CUP TROPHY
Austria was a beautiful place to host the 16 best blind golfers from North America verses the 16 best blind golfers from the Rest of the World. The 2024 Vision Cup was won 17-15 by the Rest of the World, with North America coming up a point short of retaining the cup.
