The quartet of Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini, South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace, China’s Qianhui Lin and amateur Yanxuan Peng began the day in second place on 19 under par on the World Cup Course.

JERLING BAGS MAIDEN SUNSHINE TOUR WIN

Normally this season when Danie van Tonder has put pressure on the leader in the final round, things have headed south for the front-runner, but Luke Jerling held his nerve to claim his maiden Sunshine Tour title as he won the SunBet Challenge hosted by Sun Sibaya at Umhlali Country Club. Jerling fired a fantastic three-under-par 68 on the final day to finish on 13 under par, beating Van Tonder, who closed with a 70, by four strokes in the end.

KRUGER WINS EPIC MERCURIES TAIWAN MASTERS

Jbe Kruger triumphed at the $1-million Mercuries Taiwan Masters – for his first victory on the Asian Tour in five years – after an extraordinary weekend of golf that saw three rounds played, each shotgun starts, as a result of Typhoon Krathon. The South African beat Korean Jeunghun Wang and Pavit Tangkamolprasert from Thailand by two shots at Taiwan Golf & Country Club after a gripping finish.

FOLLETT-SMITH DOMINATES IN BEROUN

Benjamin Follett-Smith secured a dominant five-stroke victory at the D+D Real Czech Challenge at Royal Beroun Golf Club to boost his chances of promotion to the DP World Tour. The Zimbabwean, who led by two shots overnight, extended that lead thanks to a six-under-par round of 64 on the final day to reach 28 under par for the week and finish five shots clear of Frenchman Maxence Giboudot and Finn Oliver Lindell who shared second.

The South African golf sensation’s opportunity follows his historic recognition as the inaugural recipient of the Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award presented by FlightScope, an accolade that is now closely tied to the Nedbank Golf Challenge. After lifting the trophies in front of record crowds in 2023, Chile’s Joaquin Niemann and South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai have confirmed they will defend their titles at the 2024 ISPS HANDA Australian Open in Melbourne. Claiming her second consecutive Patricia Bridges Bowl in 2023, after winning across the same host venues on Melbourne’s famed Sandbelt in 2022, Buhai will seek to become the first woman, and second player, to win a hat-trick of Australian Opens.

QUARTET READY FOR SOTOGRANDE TEST

Rolex Series winners Victor Perez, Thorbjørn Olesen and Rafa Cabrera Bello will join PGA Tour winner Matt Wallace at this year’s Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters from 17-20 October. The tournament, which returns to the picturesque Real Club de Golf Sotogrande after a successful first staging in 2023, will be the penultimate event of the DP World Tour’s “Back 9” as players hope to secure their spot at the DP World Tour Play-Offs.
